The Tradition of ‘Uncle Dirk’ Continues at Children’s Medical Center

On December 11, the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation’s favorite tradition continued as Uncle Dirk visited Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

iPads, gaming systems, headphones, musical instruments and autographed jerseys were all handed out and met with huge smiles from each grateful child. The annual event is special to Dirk and it is important to him to brighten the day of children who are going through a difficult time and spending the holiday season in the hospital.

The Foundation is appreciative to Children’s Medical Center for the long-standing relationship and has so much admiration for the amazing team there. A special thanks to the behind-the-scenes heroes in the “Child Life” department who help secretly curate a wish list for each patient. None of this would be possible without them.

“Uncle Dirk, as he’s known at Children’s Health, has been bringing countless smiles to our patients for many years,” said Brent Christopher, President, Children’s Medical Center Foundation. “He always exudes humble compassion and generosity, which means the world to kids and parents alike. We’re honored by the time he spends at Children’s Health and are so grateful for the hands-on way he embraces the mission to make life better for children.”
