The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation kicked off its season of giving on Wednesday morning, November 19, at its annual fall food giveaway event. The Foundation fed more than 800 families in partnership with H.E.B., Mrs. Baird’s bread and Mark Cuban Heroes Center.
Dirk, Jessica and their children were on hand helping pass out turkeys, hams, food boxes, cases of water and more to help families in the coming holiday weeks. The items given will allow families to have a traditional Thanksgiving meal while also receiving several other self-stable pantry items to assist them in the coming weeks.
“The Foundation started this event about five years ago.” said Dirk Nowitzki. “We saw that there was an incredible need and unfortunately, things haven’t improved for a lot of families. With all the uncertainty we know that this is one way we can help in the community and particularly in this part of Dallas.”
The November event is becoming a staple for the Foundation, and we couldn’t have done it without the countless supporters who were on hand to help. With grocery prices on the rise and the uncertainty of the past few months, we were honored to support our neighbors in this underserved area of our community.
